Tree health care
Seeing symptoms such as discolored leaves, dead branches, or early leaf drop? The cause could be a minor problem that is easily explained and corrected or something more that needs a treatment.
Tree Inspection
At Very Good Tree Service, we know how your trees should look, smell, and feel to be their best. We offer inspection services in Santa Fe, Los Alamos, and Northern New Mexico to let you know if your trees are healthy and up to par.
Tree Removal
A dead or damaged tree can become a serious hazard. We provide tree removal services in Santa Fe, Los Alamos, and surrounding areas to ensure your property remains safe.

Tree Trimming
Pruning is the most commonly performed and most commonly misunderstood tree care practice. All pruning at Very Good Tree Service follows ANSI A300 standards and is guided by arboricultural science, not convention.
Tree Cabling
Some trees are too valuable to lose, to their owners, to their landscapes, and to the larger ecosystem they’ve become part of. When a tree develops structural weaknesses that pruning alone can’t resolve, cabling and bracing can extend its safe, productive life by decades.

Established in 2017, Very Good Tree Service is owned and principally operated by husband and wife team Ryan Brenteson and Rebecca Sobel. Ryan manages all of the hands-on tree work and Rebecca supports business operations.
Ryan had a decade of experience working with trees as a wildland firefighter and another decade of working with trees as an Arborist. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, he studied engineering at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro and received a degree in Forest Resource Management from the University of Montana. After years of hazard tree service and fire management with the Department of Interior, Ryan and his wife set roots in New Mexico to grow Very Good Tree Service.
Ryan founded Very Good Tree Service to bring genuinely science-based, honest tree care to Santa Fe and the surrounding region, and works alongside his team on everything from routine pruning to complex consulting projects. His standard is simple: do right by the tree and do right by the client.
Our goal is to have 100% of our employees become ISA Certified Arborists.
